Anna Shimomura is a visual artist and researcher based in Kyoto and Warsaw. In her artistic practice and academic research, she explores the ambiguities of cultural crossings –borderlands, peripheries, “East-West” dichotomy, nationalism, and (post)colonialism, particularly in the contexts of Japan and East-Central Europe.
